The Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine CHSTM is an academic research centre within the University of Manchester. It is home to one of the largest groups in the history of science, technology and medicine (HSTM) and science communication studies in the UK, serving as a focus for the discipline in North West England and beyond. CHSTM maintains a vigorous programme of public activities, a key feature of which is its focus on the scientific and industrial heritage of the city and region.

The Institute of Physics is a scientific membership organization devoted to increasing the understanding and application of physics. It has an extensive worldwide membership (currently over 34,000) and is a leading communicator of physics with all audiences from specialists through government to the general public. Its publishing company, IOP Publishing, is a world leader in scientific publishing and the electronic dissemination of physics. The local branch is the Manchester branch, which holds regular events, mainly at the various Greater Manchester universities. Details, and the current programme, can be found here

The Manchester Science Places audio tour and web site were originally put together as a collaborative project for the Manchester Science Festival. Further information on the festival, including details of other events, can be found at www.manchestersciencefestival.com
